Frequently Asked Questions

How does the system work?
Your homes' Control Panel sends a signal to the Central Station Monitoring Service and informs them of the breach in security whether it is Fire, Burglar or Medical and dispatches the appropriate authorities.
What if there is a false alarm?
No problem, Central Station first contacts the home to make sure everything is ok, just give the trained representative your name and password.
What if there is no answer at home?
Central Station contacts the proper authorities immediately, and then proceeds down your submitted Call List in attempt to contact you with the details and which authorities were dispatched.
What if I lose power? Will the system still operate?
Yes. We install a battery Back Up power supply that will run the system for an allotted amount of time.
What if I have voice over service instead of a land line? Will the system operate?
No problem. Our systems are compatible with Voice Over IP telephone and DSL lines.
What do I do if my system isn't working properly or if I do not recieve calls upon the system going off?
Call -631-DOUBLER, we have a live person 24/7 to answer your calls and get you in touch with the person who can help you.
What happens if I move? Does the system go with me?
Options include re-installing your current equipment to your new home at a reasonable cost for installation to fulfill your contract requirements, or the new owner can assume the balance of your contract, and lastly you can pay the balance of your contract in full. Remember, as a current Double R customer we value your business and if your new home has an existing system, we can upgrade that system with a new 5 year monitoring contract.
What if I want to change my contact list or password?
Email us at moreinfo@drcgc.com or fax us @ 631-249-1132. Include your Name, Address, Acct# and password along with your requested changes. We will call you back to verify and then make the necessary changes.
How do I get billed for monitoring?
Upon completion of installation, you have a choice of receiving monthly, quarterly or yearly invoices. Just let your consultant know which method is best for you.
Do I have to test my system? If so, how often?
Yes, it is recommended to regularly test your system. Please refer to the literature we provided upon the installation and training of your specific system for the manufacturers recommendations.
What if I refer a family member or friend to Double R?
We appreciate when you spread the word about your successful experience with Double R so we offer a referral bonus of two free months of Central Station Monitoring to be added after your contract is satisfied.
Besides a burglar system, what other things can I do to protect my house and family?
There are many ways in which you can help secure your home & family; make sure outside access doors & windows are secure when home or away. Do not leave a spare key outside that would allow access if found – burglars' know where typical hiding places are. Installing Smoke, Heat, Carbon Monoxide, or Water Detectors, Medical Alerts and/or adding monitoring to them can further protect your home and family. Post emergency phone numbers by all phones for visitors and babysitters, including your cell numbers. Do not give out your access code to anyone other then trusted family & friends. You can set up access #'s to allow for temporary access and then delete them when access is no longer permitted. You should always ask for identification from service and delivery people. Double R Security employees are required to wear an identification badge.
I occasionally set off a false alarm. How can I prevent false alarms from happening?
When there is no answer at your home from the monitoring representative, the proper authorities will be contacted immediately. False alarms take police away from their duties, and can make your system less reliable if it happens often enough. To prevent false alarms you can:
  • Insure doors and windows are closed tightly before leaving your home.
  • Have pet detectors installed if you have wandering pets.
  • Notify children, visitors, repairmen, etc. that there is an operating alarm system and instruct how to use it.
  • Holiday decorations, balloons, and moving curtains can set off motion detectors.
  • If you are home and set off the alarm, promptly answer the phone and give your name and password.
  • Rehearse the alarm cancellation with everyone who also has a code
